Sooke Hills Wildlife Assessment Project

Sooke Hills Wildlife Assessment Project

Wildlife cameras have been deployed in selective key travel routes situated near wetlands, creeks and mountain passes to monitor various species of large mammals in a regional park. The park encompasses many mountains, lakes and streams that supports a variety of species. Evidence suggests that the area may be the wintering grounds of Roosevelt Elk. The project's study objectives are to inform park management plan development to protect critical wildlife corridors and mitigate human-wildlife conflict.
