Justin Compton

Justin Compton is an educator and ecologist with a passion for working with students in the classroom and in the field. His teaching and research experiences have focused on the integration of environmental and biological sciences. This multidisciplinary focus has helped him develop and hone collaborative teaching and research skills toward cultivating sustainable relationships between humans and the environment.

As an ecologist, Justin is interested in the dynamics and fate of animal populations, communities, and ecosystems. His research focuses on quantifying the functional role of primarily terrestrial animals in ecosystems, and using that knowledge to guide management of both species and ecosystems in the face of change. Justin address's these themes by combining empirical (i.e., experiments) and theoretical (i.e., spatially-explicit modeling) approaches in order to link dynamic patterns and processes.
