Jesse Patterson
Jesse is the Fish and Wildlife Team Lead with the Ecosystem Information Section, Knowledge Management Branch. The Knowledge Management Branch is responsible for managing all Provincial fish and wildlife inventory data (including capture, storage, access) and standards (RISC protocols). Jesse co-authored the Wildlife Camera Metadata Protocol for the Province of BC in 2019. Jesse currently supports many projects across BC that utilize cameras, including a novel project on bat roosting on Vancouver Island, and is keenly interested in developing survey design standards/best practices for camera-based studies. Previous to working for government, Jesse was a consulting biologist in Alberta and deployed hundreds of cameras (and analyzed hundreds of thousands of photos) over five years for various environmental assessments and wildlife monitoring programs. Jesse obtained his PhD from University of Calgary (2014) and Masters in Forestry from University of Toronto (2007).
