Connie Miller Retzer
Connie is an ecosystems biologist for the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resources Operations, and Rural Development based out of Nanaimo, currently using Wildlife Cameras to monitor nesting at Western Painted Turtle restored/created nesting sites and to monitor the Bat Community (especially a maternity colony of Townsend's Big-eared Bats) which are currently using an old dilapidated Bat House and and a new adjacent bat condo. In addition she is using drones to survey for presence of Western Painted Turtle in wetlands and to survey chicks and productivity of Great Blue Herons at active nesting colonies.

Wildlife cameras are being used to monitor bat use at an old bat house due to be deconstructed in 2020, and at a new bat condo recently constructed, as a potential new abode for the colony.
