Wildlife Baseline Program - Northern Vancouver Island
Wildlife Baseline Program - Northern Vancouver Island
Ten cameras have been deployed across a local study area near Port McNeill, BC to assess wildlife occurrence and distribution for a BACI study. Cameras have been placed near notable habitat features (e.g., wetlands, wildlife trees, corridors) to provide researchers with information on local wildlife populations. Traffic volumes and detection rates will also be analyzed to identify species response to disturbance.
Project Leads: Matt Jones
Focal Species: Elk; Black Bear; Cougar; American Marten; Coastal Black-Tailed Deer; Grey Wolf
