Golden Ears/Malcolm Knapp Research Forest Integrated Monitoring

Golden Ears/Malcolm Knapp Research Forest Integrated Monitoring

A grid of 54 cameras has been deployed within Golden Ears Provincial Park and the adjacent Malcolm Knapp Research Forest within the Metro Vancouver Regional District to produce an inventory of current species residing in the area, as well as to investigate the impact of recreation and/or industry on the mammal community within the study boundary. Cameras have been placed both on- and off-trail to investigate spatiotemporal co-occurrence and/or segregation between recreationists and the animals within the park and research forest. This project will provide updated information on what species currently reside within the park and research forest in addition to how mammals are responding to large amounts of users in the park (Golden Ears is one of the BC's busiest parks) or to harvesting within the adjacent research forest.
